DAY 31, PITA BREAD

Pita is a great way to start bread making if you're inexperienced! You can use my YouTube video to help https://youtu.be/8ZEvX1WuhUo

Flour and yeast have been hard to get hold of recently, look in the fridge section of the supermarket for fresh yeast as an alternative to dried.
Well done to Kazuha who made these in our virtual classroom this morning!

½ tsp dried yeast or 1 tsp fresh
½ tsp sugar

  1. Place flour, salt and oil in metal bowl. Rub ingredients together quickly.
  2. Make a well in the flour. Add the yeast, sugar and warm water into the well.

  3. Allow yeast to activate for 10 minutes (bubbles should form in the liquid)
  4. Mix together using a wooden spoon.

  5. Dust work top lightly with flour and tip dough onto floured surface

  6. With floured hands, knead the dough until soft and stretchy.

    7. Divide the dough into 3, shape into rounds and roll into ovals (approx. ½cm thick).

  7. Place on a flour dusted baking tray and cover with a tea towel.

  8. Pre-heat oven to 220ÂșC.
  9. Remove the tea towel and place pita in oven for 7 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
