DAY 11, FRUIT CRUMBLE

Delicious with all sorts of sweetened fruit underneath a crispy, crunchy crumble, served with custard of course...
This version is raspberry and apple - use what you've got!

A perfect crumble made for us by Anya in our virtual classroom this morning.
Well done Anya!

Well done to Linda in grade 7 for this wonderful apple crumble, made in our virtual classroom this morning!

...and to Morgan in grade 7 for his individual little crumbles, made for his family - wonderful!

FRUIT CRUMBLE

4 apples (or equivalent fruits of your choice)
 ½ tsp. cinnamon
50 g sugar

200 g flour
100 g cold butter
50 g sugar

Dish or cake tin to go into the oven (about 20 cm x 20 cm)

Method:

1.     Set the oven to 180ÂșC.

2.     Peel and chop the apples.

3.    Place into pot. Add cinnamon, 50 g of sugar, and 3 tablespoons of water.  Stir this mixture with a wooden spoon. Cook over a gentle heat for 15 minutes.

4.     Meanwhile, prepare the crumble.  To do this, rub the flour and the cold chopped butter together so it looks like breadcrumbs.  Add the other 50 g of sugar.

finger tips only!
this takes a while, be patient
don't forget the sugar!
4.     Place the cooked apples in a baking dish.

I use frozen raspberries too - they can go in the baking dish uncooked

5.     Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the fruit.

6.     Cook for 25 minutes at 180˚C.

Serve with cream, ice cream or custard!
